1.Steve Bug
The Lab 02 - You can't scuttle away from the Bug, even if you tried. I love the fringes, but sometimes you just have to get back to good, deep, beautiful basics. There's nothing specifially remarkable about this compilation, it's just plain good.

2. Andy Stott
Unknown Exception - With the release of "Night Jewel", I followed the musical trail backwards and found this album quite intriguing. Dubby Detroit techno, spacey synths and percussion, wandering melodies. If a compilation could be called 'chillout techno', it would probably be this one.

4.Burial
Burial -Back when it came out, it was a mystery who Burial was, and this album was considered by many the album of the year. I didn't really get it then, and I don't totally get it now, but it's worth a relisten. Some really nice textures, but I still wonder about some of the music choices.

5. Alland Byallo
Resonant Vibes podcast 009 - Rumour has it that Alland went on a trip, and then came back sounding like this. My my. I'd like to go on that trip too ... ... As many times as I've listened to this mix, there's nothing I would change about it. |

6. Sandwell District
Resident Advisor podcast 177 - Probably more texture than substance, more train that train station, this mix really showcases tone quality, production and flow. If it gets a little heady, just stand and your head for a minute and let the blood rush to your feet.

The Paranormal - "Just a Spoonful" is my easy favorite. Everybody just relax. It's just techno ... ...

8. Ida Engberg
CLR Podcast 36 -Just look at that face, oh my ... ... Almost makes you forget you're listening to some of the gnarliest techno on the planet... This podcast is a step back from the crunchy madness that Ida served up at the Sunday School for Degenerates this past Miami, but you absolutely can't beat her for killer tracks selection. Highly recommended listening ... |
